Dale Withers is a Melbourne-based artist who studied painting at R.M.I.T. during the early 1960's. 

Exhibited Tolarno Galleries 1968.

Paintings 'Highly Commended' George Crouch Prize, Ballarat, 1970.

He subsequently worked in 3D form, completing a major project, 'Age of Reason', a relief in fibreglass (1.75 x 2.45 mtrs) between 1969 - 1983. 

Studied woven tapestry Victorian Tapestry Workshop, 1976.

 

He has worked in a range of fields including teaching - at R.M.I.T, and with both the Victorian and Northern Territory Directorates of Education, and gallery guide - Cultural Precinct, Alice Springs, and Australia Pavilion, Venice Biennale 2005. He served for a number of years on the Board of the Alice Springs Art Foundation.  Awarded Life Membership 2010. 

 

He returned to live in Melbourne in 2009 after a period of 15 years working in Central Australia, and now paints full time.  A selection of recent works was exhibited at Ellipsis Space, Langford120, Melbourne February - March 2016.
